What: 2024 ARRL Summer Field Day
When: Saturday, June 22, 2024 (one day only)
Time: 10:00 AM Begin Setup -and- 2:00 PM begin operations to 6:00 PM or until the Park closes at 8:30 PM.
Where: Canal Shelter @ Martin-Marietta Park, 700 South Glenburnie Rd, New Bern, NC 28560
Talk-in: 146.610 New Bern Repeater with back-up on 146.52 Simplex
This is your Club Vice-President and ARES Co-ordinator, Brandon Porter, KQ4EAS here, You’re all likely aware that we are having to move Field Day this year due to construction at The Filling Station. We have secured the “Canal Shelter” @ Martin-Marietta Park off Glenburnie Road for Saturday, June 22.
So, “Canal Shelter” @ Martin-Marietta Park for Summer Field Day 2024. The “Canal Shelter” @ Martin Marietta Park is the newest in the New Bern, NC park system. Canal Shelter size is 24′ x 36′. (rain or shine) The shelter has 4 picnic tables, one grill, one trash can, and is ADA-accessible. Restrooms are located adjacent to the shelter. I think the Club will like this nice new Shelter and location.
You can drive to the shelter ANY day or time and check out how you would like to set-up your operations and antenna prior to Field Day. Bring your rig and antenna setups and lets have a fun day @ Field Day! Everyone is encouraged to bring a Pot-luck item for the Saturday Lunch. We will enjoy a club lunch from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Picnic tables are there on-site, someone could bring a grill and hot dogs, another might bring some baked beans and potato chips, another could bring a cooler full of Ice and sodas, etc…
